Exodus is situated in the heart of Buccarumbi, a quaint little town west of the rugged Buccarumbi Ranges and south-west of Grafton, where the Nymboida and Boyd Rivers join forces. Its majestic flowing rivers, lush green valleys, and steep escarpments will be sure to provide you with a nature experience you won’t forget! When you visit Buccarumbi you can expect to be taken back in time to the 1800s, where horsemen and bullock teams would stop to change teams, repair their coaches and respite at the local pub on their way from Glenn Innes to Grafton. Today the blacksmith shop, remnants of the local pub, and a few homesteads still stand. The community of Buccarumbi still consists of farmers and jackaroos alike.
Exodus is located on the most captivating 2 ½ thousand acres that will give you the total ‘outdoors’ experience. This spectacular property offers you 6kms of magnificent white-water river frontage on the Nymboida River. Here, tempestuous rapids lead to deep tranquil pools and broad, calm waters. During your stay you will experience the serenity of the wilderness, the steep untamed bushlands and the gentle slopping openness of cattle grazing country. This magical property will draw you into natures haven for wildlife of wedge tailed eagles, sea eagles, one of the regions largest platypus communities, and includes many endangered species. If you love fishing, then the Nymboida River is the perfect spot to catch bass, haring, and catfish.
All our activities and programs are run on the property and within the surrounding areas, however they are not limited to it. Our programs are fully insured and specifically designed to give people of all ages a genuine outdoors experience from fun and relaxation, to exciting and adrenaline pumped activities. Dingo (Glen Camps)
Dingo was born in Lismore, NSW. During his childhood he engaged in outdoor recreational activities through church clubs. He got his first taste of the land through his parents on their small hobby farm. He did his first abseil at the age of 11 and became a junior staff member with Exodus Northern Rivers at the age of 12. When he turned 13, he told his mum he wanted to buy a property in Buccarumbi. Buccarumbi was known as ‘God’s country’ and this is where he participated and assisted in outdoor recreational activities such as abseiling, whitewater canoeing, high ropes, hiking and orienteering.
During Dingo’s teenage years he developed a true passion for the outdoors and doing anything and everything that he could to get the adrenalin pumping. Consequently, the next 17 years were dedicated to developing and facilitating outdoor recreation programs for disadvantaged young people through voluntary work. Whilst striving for the dream of owning a property in Buccarumbi, he became a qualified plumber and built up his own plumbing business. Through following a dream that everyone said was ‘impossible’, he went against the odds to achieve the impossible. This is what he wants all young people to be able to achieve – “dream and just go for it!” Dreams can and do come true!!
Fox (Renae Camps)
Fox was born in Canberra and spend her childhood growing up on remote properties. She also has been involved in outdoor recreation activities since the age of 12 through various clubs. Fox became involved in voluntary work with at risk and disadvantaged young people whilst studying at university. Through her degree in Social Science, she continued to work with young people at risk in the community and within juvenile detention centres.
Dingo and Fox met in 2006 and married in Brisbane a year later. In 2007 they perused the ‘impossible’ and bought a property in Buccarumbi. They now share the same vision for all young people today. Together they combine the elements of ‘fun’ and ‘therapy’ in the outdoors, giving adolescents and youth the opportunity to develop, learn and change. Empowering them to… “dream and just go for it!”
